AVG False Positives: Solution
For three days in a row when my licensed version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.60.1.1000, started its daily 4:30pm scan, my AVG 2012 Free Version grabbed files and labeled them as malware and two as trojans. These files were both Microsoft system files as well as Malwarebytes files.
After consulting with the Malwarebytes Help Desk a solution was found after three attempts. I wanted to share the solution here for those who may be encountering the same or similar problems. I would like to mention that this is the solution that I used with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
The solution involves adding files as exclusions to both AVG as well as Malwarebytes.
To add the exclusions to AVG:
Open AvG
Select Tools
Select Advance Settings
Click Potentially Unwanted Programs
Select Add Exception
Click … which is next to File
Select Computer
Select Local Disk
Select Program Files (x86)
Select Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Highlight mbam and select open
Click Add
Do this for these files as well:
mbamgui
mbampt
mbamservice
vbalsgrid6.ocx
Also do the same for any files that AVG has grabbed and labeled as malware. (You can view my photos to see the various files that AVG grabbed and what all I excluded. )
Close AVG
Restart your computer
To add the exclusions to Malwarebytes:
Open Malwarebytes
Click on Ignore List
Click on Add
Click Computer
Click Local Disk
Click Program Files (x86)
Highlight AVG and Click ok
Do this again and this time select AVG Secure Search (If you have it on your computer )
Close Malwarebytes
Restart your computer
Now open Malwarebytes and start a scan and you should not get any false positive returns, and everything should continue to run smooth as can be.
I strongly advise downloading Malwarebytes to your system for added protection over and above your anti-virus solution. This program has kept my systems free for several years now. I use two licensed versions on my main computers, and I have three free versions on my lab computers. Both work well, however with the licensed version there are more options and the software does much more for you.

I have not had a problem with AVG blocking Google Chrome so far and I have been running both for quite some time. This was the first instance that I had a false positive from AVG or any problem with AVG. My problem anti-virus, in the past was McAfee. Thanks, michiganman, for stopping by, reading and sharing your experience. :)

My solution was to get rid of AVG after it blocked Google Chrome a couple of times. I got Avira online for free and I haven't had a problem since. I liked AVG, but not enough to lose my internet because of their mistakes
